THE CHIMERA’S APPRENTICE series

The series is complete!

On the eve of her thirteenth birthday, Kyra receives a strange stone bracelet from her mother, Aerrika. It’s supposed to protect her – but from what?

Kyra soon finds out. A mysterious walking, talking rat-man – a Raturro - tries to kidnap her. She’s rescued by the Chimera, a magical creature that travels through stone and is a portal to another world. But Kyra keeps the terrifying encounter a secret, leaving Aerrika alone and helpless when the Raturro return to capture her.

As Kyra surveys the devastation in her apartment, she faces another shock – the unexpected reappearance of her father Jaag, who has been absent from her life for years.  Jaag uses the Chimera portal to bring Kyra to the land of Antiica, where a war is being waged against the vicious rebel rats and their leader, Majellan. And it’s up to Kyra, the now-returned heir, to fulfill the prophecy and save the Raturro from slavery and war.

For a sheltered, solitary girl from Earth, it’s a lot to ask. But she won’t be alone. She befriends Coyne, a human teenager who has deserted the army, and rescues Mercy, an enslaved teenaged Raturro who was once her childhood friend. Together they undertake the dangerous journey to rescue Aerrika from the rebel’s stronghold.

Will Kyra learn how to call the Chimera to do her bidding?  Will the deal she makes with the giant crows, the Corvie, prove impossible to fulfill? And most importantly, will she rescue her mother in time?

In the tradition of C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia and Philip Pullman’s The Golden Compass, The Chimera’s Apprentice transports the reader to a magical world of adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read for teenagers

A remarkable tale of a young heroine's courage, exploring new worlds full of scary creatures, mysteries, events and most importantly, searching for lost family connections. The book introduces a young reader to one of the creatures from Greek mythology, Chimera. I liked the fast pace of the story, keeping imagination running over each new page. It's also a story about friendship and making important decisions as an adolescent kid under pressure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!

I really enjoyed this! Such a fast read-fast paced page turner. Full of so much danger, action, & suspense. Kyra is a strong female main character..she got on my nerves sometimes, but only b/c she was an angry, hurt, confused girl w/a TON of secrets & danger, etc dropped on her all at once... It’s an amazing adventure, full of so many amazing things. I pictured this world perfectly. Really looking forward to the next book in the series... Can’t wait!
