  • Intro to Writing a TV Movie

    5-week workshop, $299.

    Saturdays, March 1-29, 1-3PM/PST

    The class takes place live on Zoom. Class is limited to 10.

    Breaking into the industry as a screenwriter is fraught with difficulty, but selling a TV movie to Hallmark or Lifetime has never been easier. Fortunately, TV movie producers are open to pitches from new writers as long as you know the unique structure and elements of the genre. Whether it’s a holiday rom-com or a thriller, this class is for you. Bring your ideas and get ready to write!

    This writing class includes informative lectures and in-class writing exercises to get your TV movie concept off the ground.

    Writers will workshop their concepts, create a pitch page, and start a 9-act outline for their script.

    You will:

    —get an overview of the TV movie rules for rom-coms & thrillers, as well as the latest news from channels like Hallmark and Lifetime.

    —expand your logline to a pitchable one sheet.

    —learn the 9-act TV movie script structure.

    —plot your movie into a 9-act outline.

    —learn how to pitch concepts and scripts to producers.

  • Script Workshop

    5-week workshop, $299.

    Saturdays, March 1-29, 9:30-Noon/PST

    The class takes place live on Zoom. Class size is limited to 8.

    The script workshop gives you the ability to share scenes and receive expert feedback and insights on your first or second draft script. You’ll leave with a stronger story and a road map for moving forward to the next draft.

    The class tackles structure, the protagonist’s journey, and solidifies the spine of your story.

    As you share scenes with the class, you’ll get expert feedback and insights, and learn to analyze the writing of others. We’ll also look at next steps and opportunities to pitch your script to producers.

    **Each writer will have at least two scheduled opportunities to workshop pages and should bring 3-5 pages to the first class.
